De Koning works in London for BlackRock’s advisory unit, Financial Markets Advisory. He currently serves as the division’s climate analytics lead, helping official and financial institutions adapt to new physical risks and the transition to a low carbon world. He received an MA in International Security and Conflict Studies at Dublin City University as a 2012 George Mitchell Scholar. He wrote a thesis on the impact of selected mediator attributes on the likelihood of success in civil war peace processes. Following his fellowship, he was hired as a Research Associate at the Nuclear Threat Initiative where he worked on Chinese nuclear issues and global nuclear materials security.
