Allen is Principal of Leslie Allen Consulting LLC, which advises non-profits in building high-performing, integrated communications and fundraising programs. She is co-founder of Front Range Source, a full-service nonprofit consulting firm serving clients in the arts, environment, human services, and advocacy organizations all over the world. They provide consulting services, training, and resources for nonprofit fundraisers. She is also Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of ActionAid USA, an organization that works with poor and marginalized people to eradicate poverty by overcoming the injustice and inequality that cause it. She was previously Director of Communications and Development at Global Greengrants Fund, a public foundation that raises money and makes small grants to environmental activists in the Global South. She supervised a team of six people who raise nearly $5 million per year to make grants. Previously Allen worked as Deputy Director of Development at Greenpeace USA where she led the major gifts, annual giving, and planned giving teams that raised $10 million for Greenpeace in the U.S. She served on the board of the Center for Environmental Politics in Missoula, Montana.
…The Scoville Fellowship was a valuable transition into graduate study in the field of non-profit management. I was able to study the “marketing techniques” of lobbying organizations, while at the same time working on issues that were very important to me personally.
