Cohn is the chief political analyst for The New York Times. He writes for The Upshot, a New York Times website with analysis and data visualizations about politics, policy and everyday life. He previously wrote Electionate, a non-partisan election blog in The New Republic specializing in political geography and demographics. He was previously a research assistant to Michael Krepon at the Stimson Center’s South Asia and Space Security projects, continuing the work he did during his fellowship. While at Stimson he co-wrote a report on the nuclear weapons budget that was cited in the Washington Post.
