McDermott is Deputy Chief of Party in Myanmar, and was previously a Program Officer at Pact, an NGO based in DC, and is working on projects in Myanmar and Indonesia. She was previously a Fulbright-Clinton Fellow working with Bangladesh’s Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Co-operatives, where she contributed to a project on urban governance and municipal service delivery. She was previously a consultant at the World Bank Institute on a program that supports government and civil society capacity building to enhance the passage and implementation of access to information laws and other government transparency mechanisms. She worked specifically on a project in Bangladesh focusing on grassroots awareness-raising on the right to information as well as a project in West Africa that connects access to information practitioners in three countries. Following the completion of her fellowship she worked part time for two months as a Policy Associate at Citizens for Global Solutions.
