Elena Tiedens

Elena Tiedens is the Fall 2025 Scoville Fellow for the Project on Nuclear Issues at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). She graduated with an MA and BA in history with a concentration in environmental history and a minor in Russian from the University of Chicago. Elena’s research focused on civilian nuclear infrastructure in the Russian Arctic. She is interested in the intersection between nuclear and environmental threats, climate change, and energy and has previously held internships at Earth Law Center and the Wilderness Society. Elena looks forward to trying new restaurants in DC and exploring new hiking trails.
